The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Palisades is a community
that finds strength and purpose in the diversity of a world united in
its spiritual essence. We believe that love is a common thread among
all peoples and truth is a basic human need. We are grateful for the
religious pluralism which enriches and ennobles our faith and are inspired
to deepen our understanding and expand our vision.
We honor and cherish the differences that make every individual unique.
Each person is valued. Their abilities, efforts and contributions strengthen
us. We respect the enriching traditions that have shaped our differences
and our commonalties. These bring us together in friendship and appreciation
of each other.
Unity in Diversity is for us a practical rule by which we, and the
world at large, may realize our best potential, mindful of the Unitarian
Universalist principle which affirms and promotes the inherent worth
and dignity of every person, we assert our identity as an antiracist
community of faith. We welcome into our membership all those of good
will, regardless of age, physical ability, race, creed, color, nationality,
economic status, sexual orientation, religious background or any other
attributes that have been unjustly used to label and isolate individuals
or groups. We welcome the presence of all.
Fairness, kindness and respect for others are our basic guides in whatever
we do. If there are differences of opinion among our members, we deal
with them honestly and with good humor, aware that the process as well
as the results are important. We strive for open communication among
all our members and with the larger society of which we are a part.
We believe that people of good will must work together to make the world
a better place. No matter how small our efforts we believe that they
make a difference.
